Taxes

I, like you, HATE taxes!

Unfortunately, taxes are needed in order for our Town and School District to operate properly. I believe there is a delicate balance between providing needed services to our residents and delivering those services in a cost effective and fiscally responsible manner that helps keep taxes down.

Sadly, the State of New Jersey and the elected lawmakers in Trenton have failed New Jersey residents miserably. New Jersey has dramatically cut state aid for both our towns & schools.

Poor management of taxpayer dollars, and in some cases corruption, is the cause of many of our problems in New Jersey!

Unfortunately, their fix is for NJ residents to pay more!

This issue impacts all of our residents, particularly seniors who live on fixed incomes.

I believe now, more than ever, we need a strong Township Committee who can proactively respond and address this reality.

I will:

· Strive for cost cutting budget measures that save taxpayer dollars without compromising services to the community.

· Continue to promote and attract businesses in Independence that can create much needed tax ratables that help fund our schools and town.

· Pursue government grants and foundations that can help fund community needs.

· Engage bordering towns for shared services to help cut costs.
